Summary:

The Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to manage the timely completion of residential maintenance service contracts. They will be required to supervise a crew of 2-3 people, and operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks, as well as provide daily progress reporting on job time and cost data.

Job Duties:

  • Plan and manage the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM including all daily labor, equipment and materials required to complete daily objectives
  • Cut grass, trim edges, blow trimmings, fertilize and water turf areas and perform other lawn care duties
  • Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges up to 5 meters
  • Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the building of landscape gardens and related areas
  • Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, aerators, power rakes, and sod cutters
  • Supervise the work of crew members to ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity
  • Inspect all work for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or re-work due to quality or customer satisfaction issues
  • Train crew members on proper and safe job methods
  • Conduct daily inspections on vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Complete and submit all required timesheet and job data entry on smart phone enabled device
  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned truck and job sites
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations
  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Requirements:

  • Completion of college, vocational, or technical training
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the landscape/grounds maintenance industry
  • Plant knowledge and identification, specifically trees, shrubs, and perennials
  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for maintaining lawns and gardens
  • Use tools used in horticulture such as pruners, hand saws, loppers, clippers
  • Tree, shrub, and plant identification and pruning
  • Care for growing plants by pruning, weeding, cultivating, and removing dead or damaged branches

  • Weeding and raking of garden beds
  • Spread top soil and lay sod
  • Plant and lawn fertilization
  • Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, aerators, power rakes, and sod cutters
  • Assist with daily time tracking through app when needed
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
