Reports to: Division Manager

Summary:

The Landscape Maintenance Foreman/Woman is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to manage the timely completion of lawn and garden maintenance contracts. The landscape maintenance foreman/woman will be required to supervise a crew of 2-3 people, operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks, as well as provide daily progress reporting on job time and tasks completed.

Job Duties:

• Plan and manage the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM including all daily labor, equipment and materials required to complete daily objectives
• Cut grass, trim edges, blow trimmings, and perform other lawn care duties
• Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges up to 5 meters
• Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the building of landscape gardens and related areas
• Operate power equipment such as lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, and chain saws
• Supervise the work of crew members to ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity
• Inspect all work for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or re-work due to quality or customer satisfaction issues
• Train crew members on proper and safe job methods
• Conduct daily inspections of vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Complete and submit all required daily time tracking and job notes in app
• Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
• Comply with all company policies
• Communicate with customers in a friendly manner
• Keep truck, tools and equipment’s clean and well maintain
• Help to maintain locker cleanliness

Requirements:

• Completion of some college, vocational, or technical training
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the landscape maintenance industry
• Plant knowledge and identification, specifically trees, shrubs, and perennials
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
• Excellent observational skills and a strong attention to detail
• Time management skills
• Ability to lead a team
• Ability to follow safe working procedures
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
• Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting

Work Conditions:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, noise, and cold

Job Duties:

• Aid in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM
• Responsible for maintaining lawns and gardens
• Use horticulture tools such as hand saws, loppers, clippers
• Tree, shrub, and plant identification and pruning
• Care for growing plants by pruning and removing dead or damaged branches
• Planting
• Spread topsoil and lay sod
• Plant and lawn fertilization
• Operate mowers, blowers, hedge trimmers, line trimmers, and other landscape maintenance equipment
• Assist with daily time tracking through app
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
• Comply with all company policies
• Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
• Communicate with customers in a friendly manner
• Help to maintain locker cleanliness

The Maintenance Labourer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to maintain lawns and gardens.
